Aim

We need to carry out comprehensive research to determine what would be the best technology framework to leverage to support the Archivista application.

Research areas

As stated in the meeting (11/3/2008) there are 3 areas we could focus our early research on:

• Google Gears
• Adobe AIR
• Groupware implementations

Further Ideas/Rich Internet applications

• Mozilla Prism (WebRunner)
• Google Web Toolkit

We should also keep in mind that any other technologies are possible

The features which are critical when evaluating these technologies are:

• How much support is offered for 'caching' server data locally
  • This is to support the workflow of:
    • Copy required content from the database to a local copy (laptop)
    • Modify this content and/or add new content
    • Merge these changes back to the database
      • This merging can be 'full' merging, or merely a simple locking protocol that prevents lost updates
