Comments from John Hamer

  • I appreciate your opening comments. These reflective essays are a very valuable source of feedback to me.
  • "After a little bit of prior preperation, i've selected these numbers." — you need to explain what you did to select these numbers. Did you perform an experiment? If so, what? The sample size is very important. If you get it wrong, your data will be worthless.
  • "Testing Buzhash low on 500 samples" — now you're using a different value from what you reported above. How come?

Just pasting the output of the program into your report is not sufficient. You have done nothing to indicate that you have even looked at the numbers. If you didn't understand the output, then why didn't you ask for help from the tutor or lecturer? If you did ask for help, then your report should say so.

There is no evidence that you have learnt anything in the lab, or that you are in the least bit concerned about this. You need to develop better skills for coping with material that you don't understand because this is the normal state of affairs that you will face throughout your working life.
