Comments from John Hamer

  • "after some more fun confusion" — this is a reflective essay; say what the confusions were, and how you tacked them.
  • You were asked to explain your choice of values for sample_size. It's no good just making numbers up without any justification. This has a significant effect on your results, and if you make a bad choice all the rest of your lab effort will be wasted. {yes, you made a bad choice].
  • Good explanation of the stats tests.
  • VERBOSE_OUTPUT is ok for the first trial, but for the rest you are better off turning it off.
  • The random number generators ignore the input source. There is no "Random high" and "Random low", it's all the same.
  • You were expected to rank the hash functions from best to worst. Just presenting the program output is not sufficient.

You seem to know what you are doing, but don't have much to show for two hours work.

Overall, only a fair effort.
