User Tests

Test 1: Comparing documents

Preperation

1. Open the four documents named test1a.doc, test1b.doc, test1c.doc and test1d.doc as well as an empty text file.
2. Test1a.doc is the original, with b, c and d being variants of that document with extra phrases.

Test

1. Browse through the open documents on the desktop
2. Compare the contents of each of the test1b, c and d documents with test1a.doc
3. Copy the extra phrases into the open text file indicating what lines correspond to what document.

What to record:

• How long it takes to get the task completed
• Eye tracking data

Test 2: Treasure Hunt

1. Browse through the open windows.
2. Follow instructions to navigate between open windows.
3. Find the "treasure"

What to record:

• How long it takes to get the task completed
• Eye tracking data

Test 3: Moving windows off the screen

1. Move all the open windows to the right of the screen
2. Close all windows using the the close button on the window bar

What to record:

• How long it takes to get the task completed
• Eye tracking data

Test 4: Tile 3+ Windows

• Test will include 3 or more windows which the user is required to tile according to the window size.

What to record:

• Eye tracking data
