Outcome: Prove that a better window manager can increase productivity.

Project Scope

  • Stacking: The ability to drag a window onto another window and having them merge into one window with tabs to allow switching between them.
  • Snapping: The ability for a window to recognise that another window is adjacent when being dragged or resized and being able to automatically snap to it.
  • Assisted Tiling: Please ask Mohannad!!

Project Stage: Rounding up tiling implementation, working on tabbing

Week 2 Inter - Semester Break (6th July - 13th July)

  1. Finish off tiling implementation.
  2. Have tabbing near complete.

Week 1 Inter - Semester Break (1st July - 6th July)

  1. Tiling windows should be near complete.
  2. Begin refactoring code to use aggregation.

By 22 May

  1. Refine experimental design as discussed during our meeting
  2. Continue with Stacking prototype implementation

By 15 May

  1. Install IDE for C++ on Ubuntu
  2. Commence with Stacking implementation. (Use the Haiku development mailing list for developer input)
  3. Make first draft of experimental design:
  • Experiment should be detailed in "Film Strip" format.
  • Participants should know exactly what they are doing.
