J2ME RMI Research

  • RMI has been implemented over bluetooth before in various applications including the Wireless weight management system.
    • Providing that we get familiar with the bluetooth api it should be feasible to implement RMI over bluetooth. If this is not possible (highly unlikely) then we will resort to using USB cable or connections or WAP.
  • We still have not decided if the mobile devices acts as the server or the client.
    • The mobile device can act as a server but do we want this?
  • Both Motorola V3X and Nokia 6680 have bluetooth APIs installed
    • This means that we'll be able to make custom Bluetooth applications to start/stop connections etc.

For next time

  • Download Nokia Series 60 Emulator
  • Read up on research PDFs
