Human Computer Interaction

Assessment

Assignments 25%; Test 35%; Exam 40%; You must pass both theory and practical.

Test is 6pm to 7.30pm, Thursday May 25th, in 403.404

Organisation

First 7 weeks (John G): 2 lectures (Mon & Tue 11-12) and 1 two-hour activity/lab (Thu 2-4) per week. 1 guest lecture some weeks Fri 11-12.

Second 5 weeks (Dirk): 2 lectures (Mon & Tue 11-12) per week, 1 two-hour activity/lab (Thu 10-12) per week, 1 tutorial per week.

Description

This paper covers Human Computer Interaction and the development of graphical and browser User Interfaces. Contents

Human Computer Interaction: human behaviour and expectations, computer interfaces and the interaction between the two. User centred design. Usability evaluation techniques for web and graphical interfaces. Windowing systems; Swing; Layout, Models and Views; Mappings; Collections. Web-based systems and tools for their development, such as JSPs. Coursework

HCI design project UI development project/assignments
